Palm trees require a completely different approach from other trees and improper trimming is one of the leading causes of palm decline and storm vulnerability in Fountain, CO. Galicia Tree Service's certified team provides proper frond removal, trunk skimming, and timing-based maintenance that keeps your palms healthy and beautiful.
The most common mistake in palm care across Fountain, CO is over-trimming removing green fronds that are still actively photosynthesizing. Green fronds feed the palm and provide weight stability in high winds.
Removing them stresses the palm, slows growth, narrows the trunk (a condition called pencil-pointing), and actually increases storm vulnerability. Getting this right from the start is critical to your palms' long-term health.
Our trained palm care technicians in Fountain, CO remove only brown, dead, or heavily damaged fronds along with old flower stalks and seed pods. We perform trunk skimming to remove old boot stubs cleanly and time trimming correctly for your specific palm species.
The result is a healthy, beautifully maintained palm that thrives long-term on your Fountain, CO property. This is what professional palm care looks like when done correctly.
What most Fountain, CO property owners don't realize is that palms are monocots more closely related to grasses than to broadleaf trees and their biology demands an entirely different approach to care. A palm has a single growing point at its crown called the meristem. Damage to this growing point is often fatal and always irreversible.
This is precisely why palm work should only be trusted to technicians with specific palm training. General tree services without palm-specific knowledge pose a real risk to your palms.
The consequences of improper palm trimming in Fountain, CO compound over time. A palm that has been repeatedly over-trimmed develops a permanently weakened trunk section that cannot bear the weight of a healthy crown.
Galicia Tree Service brings palm-specific expertise to every job in Fountain, CO. Our technicians are trained in the biology and care requirements of the full range of palm species common to our region from Queen and King Palms to Canary Island Date Palms, Washingtonia palms, and everything in between.
Properly maintained palms with green fronds intact are actually more storm-resistant. Over-trimmed palms are top-heavy and structurally weaker in high winds.
